                                              Full Time Peer Support Specialist - Ironton, OH

The Peer Specialist works under the supervision of the Peer Support Supervisor and Peer Support Clinical Supervisor. The Peer Support Specialist primary job function is to enhance the overall treatment process by assisting case managers / therapist to meet the overall treatment needs of clients.    

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:     

  • Peer recovery services on individual basis
  • Address individual recovery needs of clients
  • Help clients promote recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, well-being and independence
  • Engage with client on exploring recovery goals
  • Support clients in achieving personal independence
  • Encouragement and modeling of hope
  • Support client of daily life skills, such as budgeting, health, wellness, resource, development, and communication integration
  • Modeling personal responsibilities in recovery
  • Education on health care, system navigation
  • Delivery group on provider education
  • Support in access or development of natural support staff group
  • Encourage coordinating linkages among providers
  • Participate in crisis interventions and stabilization
  • Attendance and participation in treatment team meeting to deliver coordination of care
  • Educate individuals on the development of empowerment skills through self-advocacy
  • System monitoring
  • Coordination and assistance in crisis management and stabilization
  • Advocacy and outreach
  • As appropriate to the care of clients, education and training specific to the individual needs, abilities and readiness to learn
  • Mental Health or AOD interventions that address symptoms, behaviors, thought processes, etc., that assist a client in eliminating barriers to seeking or maintaining education and employment
  • Activities that increase the client’s capacity to positively impact the client’s environment
  • Adequate knowledge and ability to navigate EHR (Electronic Health Record) system.
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by Clinical Director or Supervisor.
  • Satisfactory background and drugs screen.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:      
  • High school diploma or GED with 6 months behavioral health experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Current Certification in self administration of medication procedures and related training requirements.
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
