Part Time Addiction Physician Needed in Boston, MA
Most of the physician's time will be spent seeing patients for admission to methadone or buprenorphine treatment. This involves obtaining a history and physical exam & documenting it in the EMR, entering orders for methadone dosing in the EMR or writing a buprenorphine prescription (soon this will be electronic, but we currently have a waiver to use written scripts while we are moving to a new EMR). There will also be follow up visits for the buprenorphine patients and consults on the methadone patients for high risk issues or for their annual medical review.
The ideal candidate would be ASAM/ABAM certified and/or have some experience in medication-assisted treatment with methadone and buprenorphine. The physician must be licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts and must have an X-DEA waiver with the ability to prescribe buprenorphine for up to 100 or 275 patients. This person should be comfortable working as part of a team that prioritizes a patient-centered, recovery-oriented approach that is based in a harm reduction philosophy
