Senior Process Engineer

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, verification and implementation of new and revised manufacturing lines or integrated system of manufacturing processes. They are a key member of the manufacturing support teams to ensure products can be manufactured to meet customer demand, and lead cost reduction / yield improvement projects.

They plan for all project activities, participate in the project scope and target definition as related to manufacturing. They are expected to prepare documentation in accordance with the Baylis Quality Management System, additionally developing novel manufacturing methods and new best practices.

The Senior Process Engineer will report into the Process Engineering Team Leader for the Fixed Sheath team.


Key responsibilities

  • Makes decisions in an area of expertise and where supported by precedents or clearly defined procedures. Interpretations and conclusions are reviewed in detail
  • Provides technical, project level guidance to technicians, engineering associates and junior engineering staff
  • Adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System
  • Participates in project level planning with the leadership team. Conducts independent work planning. Reviews work plans for impact to project level objectives
  • Demonstrate Baylis values, works with integrity and a supportive corporate member
  • Member of the manufacturing support team for a product line
  • Responsible for or author design input and output documentation for a manufacturing line
  • Conduct and maintain process risk assessment activities (including PFMEA) in order to identify critical process parameters and develop appropriate control plans to mitigate risks
  • Develop Validation Plans, protocols and process controls
  • Comply with the Health & Safety policies of the company and inform Management of unsafe working conditions
  • Other duties as required
  • Adheres to all company and quality procedures and policies


  • Minimum 5-7 years related working experience
  • Experience in process design/development and product design for manufacturability, preferably in the medical device industry
  • Experience in process validation, process FMEA and project management
  • Experience in engineering support for production
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required
  • Lean or Six Sigma training desired.
