We are seeking a Field Support Technician to install and maintain cabling systems for our customers. In this role you will be required to assess the needs of the customer, lay the required cables, and assist with the installation of cabled equipment. You may also be required to troubleshoot networking or equipment issues.
To ensure success as a Field Support Technician, you should have expert knowledge of telecommunication systems, advanced troubleshooting skills, and high-level interpersonal skills. A top-notch Field Support Technician works quickly and efficiently while maintaining strong customer relations.
This position has 75% travel requirements and may require work on weekends at client sites. The travel required is through ought the US and typically includes multiple weeks on site at a client's location.
What You'll Do
- Meeting with customers to discuss their cabling needs.
- Mapping out the area and assessing equipment requirements.
- Installing cables in homes and offices.
- Identifying and removing old or redundant cables.
- Troubleshooting cable and network issues.
- Assisting with the setup of equipment, including televisions, routers, telephones, and computers.
- Troubleshooting cable and equipment malfunctions.
- Providing basic operating instructions.
- Completing job reports.
- Maintaining stock levels at the office and in the vehicle.
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous work experience as a cable technician, cable installer or electrical construction duties preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of telecommunication systems and electrical equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
- Work involves moderate physical effort with frequent need to get into difficult positions, including small spaces, heights on a lift, endure long periods of standing or walking and occasional need to move objects without assistance. Requires physical ability to perform all job functions including ability to walk, push, bend, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel, carry, lift, and climb.
