We are seeking a Sr Field Support Technician to install and maintain cabling systems for our customers. In this role you will be required to assess the needs of the customer, lay the required cables, and lead a team to install cabled equipment. You may also be required to troubleshoot networking or equipment issues.
To ensure success as a Sr Field Support Technician, you should have expert knowledge of telecommunication systems, advanced troubleshooting skills, experience leading installation projects and high-level interpersonal skills. A top-notch Field Support Technician works quickly and efficiently while maintaining strong customer relations.
What You'll Do
- Mentor & train Junior level technicians, providing development opportunities to the team.
- Assume responsibility for prioritizing tasks at customer sites and manage setup of equipment, including televisions, routers, telephones, network equipment and computers.
- Meet with customers to discuss their cabling needs.
- Map out the area and assessing equipment requirements.
- Install cables in homes and offices.
- Identify and remove old or redundant cables.
- Troubleshoot cable and network issues.
- Troubleshoot cable and equipment malfunctions.
- Provide basic operating instructions.
- Complete job reports.
- Maintain stock levels at the office and in the vehicle.
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or GED.
- Industry certification within Network Infrastructure Installation is preferred.
- 5+ years previous work experience as a cable technician or cable installer.
- Advanced knowledge of telecommunication systems and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to travel up to 75% including potential for weekend and off hour site visits.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in cramped spaces and at heights.
