We are seeking a talented Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team and take a leading role in managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-based systems. Your expertise in cloud technologies, coupled with your strong problem-solving skills and commitment to automation, will be essential in driving operational excellence and supporting the delivery of our business objectives. What You'll Do: 

  • Play a key technical role in facilitating various technical and business initiatives 
  • Recommend new cloud infrastructure deployments and changes 
  • Perform cloud infrastructure upgrades and updates to maximize system efficiency and security posture while minimizing downtime 
  • Develop and maintain cloud solutions in accordance with best practices 
  • Design, develop, and deploy cloud-based systems 
  • Optimize system deployments to balance performance, cost, and security concerns 
  • Implement automation using scripting languages to manage AWS services 
  • Utilize IAC via technologies such as Terraform and CloudFormation to build scalable, stable, and repeatable infrastructure 
  • Implement, maintain and test disaster recovery procedures 
  • Implement system monitoring and alerting capabilities 
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous projects 
  • On-call responsibilities 
  • Other duties related to your capabilities, assigned on an as-needed basis 
  • Mentor and develop junior level staff 

    

What You'll Need: 

  • Experience with AWS Services – EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, DRS, ECS/EKS/Fargate, API Gateway, FSx/EBS, ALB/NLB, WAF, Network Firewall, ElastiCache, Systems Manager, OpenSearch, and SageMaker 
  • Advanced knowledge of configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems 
  • Advanced experience writing and debugging scripts (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bash/Python, PowerShell, etc.) 
  • Proficient with Github coding and branching strategies 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps concepts and technologies including Github Actions, Octopus, Jenkins, etc. 
  • Understanding of or experience with Site Reliability Engineering concepts and practices 
  • Experience utilizing and enhancing observability solutions 
  • Experience building and maintaining containerization and orchestration strategies for K8S utilizing tools such as Docker/Rancher and Packer 
  • Ability to build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to ensure consistent and reliable management of application environments 
  • Experience with FinOps including cloud cost and financial model forecasting and cloud cost optimization strategies 
  • Solid understanding of Cloud Networking and content delivery – VPC, R53, Transit Gateway, IAM 
  • Understanding of database technologies – SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, RDS 
  • Experience with storage technologies – S3, FSx, CIFS/SMB, NFS, NAS, SAN, EBS 
  • Progressive troubleshooting skills across a range of systems 

    

General Requirements:    

  • Bachelor of Science degree (CS or related field) or equivalent experience 
  • 5+ years of experience in MS Azure Cloud or AWS (preferred) 
  • Possess ability to deliver high-quality work quickly, both individually and in a team environment 
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting skills, and a desire to take on responsibility and ownership of issues 
  • Motivated, takes initiative, and strives to create an environment where continuous improvement can occur 
  • Flexible to work in an environment with multiple responsibilities 
  • Ability to produce excellent documentation 
  • Ideally possess professional industry recognized certifications in your areas of focus
