Abrigo is seeking a talented and driven Principal Data Engineer with a deep understanding of data engineering, data analytics, and cloud technologies. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing data-driven strategies to address complex business challenges, drive growth, and improve decision-making processes.

This person will report to the Director, Data Engineering.  This position will be remote, or office based in Raleigh, NC or Austin, TX. 

 

What You'll Do:         

  • The Role: Lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of modern data engineering solutions into Abrigo’s applications and data platform.
  • Technical Leadership: Drive the architectural vision and implementation of our data solutions, ensuring that technologies align with the overall business objectives.
  • Best Practices: Advocate for and implement best data engineering and architectural practices, ensuring that the team produces high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, software developers, and other stakeholders to deliver features and improvements.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior and mid-level data engineers, providing technical leadership and promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Research: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the Snowflake and AWS ecosystems, making recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
  • Up to 20% travel as needed.

What You'll Need:         

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) working as a Data Engineer, with a focus on developing and implementing data-driven solutions to derive value for customers.
  • Extensive expertise technologies such as (but not limited to): SQL Server, Postgres, Snowflake, dbt, AWS cloud native services, AWS cloud native architectures
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Java, and Python.
  • Fundamental understanding with data ingestion methodologies and processes such as APIs, CDC, CT, secure data shares, event streaming methodologies to obtain data in an efficient, performant, and scalable way.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in the financial industry.
