This an exciting opportunity for a passionate, high energy Revenue Accounting Analyst. This is an integral role within the Finance organization, reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting. Success in this role will require a mastery of revenue recognition rules, a focus on process improvement and the ability to represent the accounting function in the development and management of end-to-end processes while working closely with leadership and partnering with cross-functional teams.
As a Revenue Accounting Analyst, you will gather, interpret, and use complex data to develop actionable steps that will improve processes and optimize results while identifying areas of improvement. Your exceptional ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing will be critical as you provide regular, timely and accurate project updates. You have a strong aptitude for learning, can quickly grasp complex concepts and data to summarize for relevant key context, and are comfortable driving change and managing your day-to-day responsibilities within a fast-paced, high-growth business. This position will be based in Raleigh, NC, Austin, TX, or remotely.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with services teams to ensure timely and accurate tracking of project hours incurred, project-based budgets, and estimate time to complete
- Manage AR activities of multiple business units
- Perform ETC analysis over defined lookback period to ensure revenue recognition accuracy
- Prepare and review services backlog reports to ensure proper revenue recognition
- Monthly reporting
- Serve as main point of contact between accounting revenue team and services teams; follow up on data discrepancies and identify areas of improvement
- Contract review and analysis relating to new sales and renewal deals to ensure all proper revenue recognition from new & existing contracts in accordance with ASC 606
- Continually improve revenue processes and pushing automation while maintaining compliance with ASC 606 for accurate revenue reporting
- Collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) teams, managing multiple projects at a time with an impeccable attention to detail and timelines
- Assist in yearly financial audits along with other regulatory reporting
What You’ll Need:
- 3-5 years of Accounting, Finance or related field experience. CPA preferred
- SaaS industry experience preferred
- Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP Accounting, specifically related to ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and data analyst skills
- Sound and balanced business judgment and keen strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Team oriented and enjoys working closely with other employees to achieve results
- Exceptional time management skills; prioritization in managing multiple priorities
- Ability to analyze complex contracts and parse out pertinent information
- Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, and Mavenlink (or time/project tracking software) preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred, Big 4 audit experience is a plus
