Summary and Qualifications:


  • Assist the Vice President of Marketing in the development of Banfield's new Brand Positioning and Strategy.

  • Lead the day to day offense of implementing the new strategy across all marketing functions and partner with other key functional partners across the organization.

  • Serve as the brand strategy champion to ensure delivery of a consistent identity and message in the marketplace to reach and meet the needs of our clients, associates and pets in service of driving practice growth and brand affinity/loyalty.


Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.

  • Partner with the VP of Marketing to develop overall brand positioning strategy leveraging key client and marketplace insights to enable brand differentiation and offer the business a competitive edge/unique value proposition that fuels new growth.

  • Develop weekly/monthly/annual brand marketing strategies for creating brand awareness, demand, consumer acquisition, and retention via an integrated marketing plan offense.

  • Create and Manage client journey and cross functional Brand roadmaps.

  • Manage, communicate and maintain program specific research efforts to assess the ROI of key initiatives as it relates to OGSM's, as well as, the performance of key marketing initiatives.

  • Lead internal and external creative partners to develop messaging strategies for key segments and initiatives.

  • Tasked to keep up with and understand industry best practices and emerging strategies in support the development of new creative, innovative, and out-of-the-box approaches in all marketing communication strategies.

  • Partner with other functional team members in the development, deployment, and enhancement of strategies across key communication touchpoints to ensure brand consistency by leading a cross-functional offense

  • Lead Manager(s) Brand Marketing who are responsible for developing and activating seasonal and ongoing marketing strategies, including B2B, partnership and grassroots/influencer programs, also providing oversight to Manager Brand Planning and Brand Design/Creative Services teams.

  • Other job duties as assigned.



Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

  • Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.

  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, media, design or related field preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Minimum ten years of experience leading a Brand marketing team with multi-unit, cross geography locations and the ability to tailor creative strategies accordingly is required.

  • Brand marketing, marketing strategy with strong creative acumen is required.

  • Direct Marketing, Retail and/or advertising is required.

  • Digital Marketing, SEO, SEM and analytics is preferred.

  • Team management and development is required.

  • Prefer health care background (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.).
