Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to drive the financial planning processes for the firm, including forecasting, budgeting, long range planning for revenues, resources, projects and capital budgeting. This person is a self-starter with a curious nature, comfortable digging into data and asking questions about the business to understand and contribute to the bigger picture. This professional has a deep business acumen and views new projects and challenges as growth opportunities. He or she has a very strong technical and financial analysis skill set, as well as a professionally inquisitive mind and a stout, tenacious self-drive to learn and contribute to the bigger picture. This position reports to the Firm’s Director of Accounting and provides analytical support to the CFO, Operations Leaders, Senior Level Attorneys and other members of Finance. This role has significant exposure to senior leadership of BAL and therefore, significant opportunity to make meaningful contributions and learn from the best.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the financial planning processes for the Firm, including forecasting, budgeting, long range planning for revenues, resources, projects and capital budgeting.
  • Contribute to initiatives to define/improve planning processes, drive automation, and streamline deliverables.
  • Partner in creating, preparing and reporting profitability analyses on the Firm’s practice areas.
  • Create/Update performance reports and maintain results at firm, top client, partner, line of business and office levels.
  • Participate in establishing, measuring and reporting on key performance metrics for the Finance department and Firm.
  • Compare actual results with forecasted/budgeted to analyze and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Perform ad-hoc business analysis for leadership team to further inform business decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Five years of increasing responsibilities in the Finance department preferably in the legal or professional services industry.
  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills with high attention to detail.
  • Results-oriented and self-directed, able to work independently with minimal supervisions.
  • Must be an extremely curious individual with professional courage and drive to investigate and see beyond the scope of their role.
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills to promote alignment across the organization.
  • Team oriented, with a strong customer and business focus.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, to explain complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of accounting transactions and their impact on high-level financial reporting.
  • High proficiency with MS Excel to work efficiently with large amounts of data with multiple sources.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and non-uniform workloads.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated, and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent written, verbal, quantitative, and presentation skills; collaborative and organized.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance concepts as well as ERP systems.
  • Ability to work overtime whenever necessary.
  • Familiarity with Aderant and Intellistat is a plus.
  • Sound judgment and ability to identify and correct errors in others' work.
  • Superior client service skills.
  • Deadline-oriented with a track record of meeting goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis. Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone. Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally. Regular and on-time attendance. Must be able to prioritized, schedule and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping schedules. A certain degree of creativity and flexibility is required. Hours may exceed 40 hours per week. Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
