About the Job: 

Backcountry is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to support the social media team, by monitoring the performance of all social media channels, while identifying emerging trends and making recommendations that will help shape our content pipeline. With a core focus on the day-to-day management of Backcountry’s social channels, this task-manager and master of the organizational arts will assist with reporting and analysis of reach, engagement, and audience growth.  You will work cross-functionally with the Backcountry owned brands, merchandising, and e-commerce teams to ensure content is performing to expectations, while evaluating trends and making recommendations on how to improve published content.

We are looking for an analytical mind with comprehensive understanding of KPI’s who will help define growth targets for each channel.  This ideal candidate has a passion for social media, is excellent at multi-tasking, and will thrive in a fast-paced environment. They will have experience identifying trends, testing concepts, building reports, and making recommendations for optimizing new platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels while working with more established platforms to bring social-first content to life.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly reporting for Backcountry’s social media channels
  • Inform the appropriate KPI’s for each channel, make recommendations for how to obtain growth
  • Make recommendations that will optimize how content performs, using KPI’s specific top each platform
  • Continually research the competitive landscape, both endemic and mainstream, to identify trends, recommend best practices, and inform the creative and production teams
  • Test and recommend channel specific posting cadences based on season, business objectives, campaigns, and cultural moments
  • As needed, assist with scheduling and posting of compelling social content & copy across all channels via publishing tools
  • Contribute to internal, cross-functional team brainstorms to develop social storytelling concepts and extensions of brand campaigns
  • Participate in all creative review processes to ensure content is optimized to drive KPI’s
  • Monitory the backcountry community by leveraging social listening tools to discover unique insights and find opportunities to engage with our audiences (at times, this role will be responsible for responding to comments, messages, tagged posts, etc.)
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices, trends and emerging platforms
  • Attend shoots / brand activations and potentially support in content capture that ladders up to the social content strategy - some travel may be required
  • This position may require working outside of normal office hours to coordinate and engage live content on evenings, weekends and holidays

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-4 years of organic social media or digital marketing experience
  • Robust knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, both current and emerging, as well as their respective best practices and asset requirements (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok, etc.)
  • Experience growing and managing brand social media accounts, preferably for commercial use.
  • Experience working with athletes, ambassadors, and influencers as a content creation engine, leveraging these teams to grow organic social channels.
  • Experience working with a wide range of creative formats including short-form video, photography, GIFs, and live videos
  • Curiosity and passion for all things social media marketing - you can tell us about the latest trends in digital - who is killing it and why
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build internal and external relationships 
  • Experience with social media publishing and listening platforms (i.e. Sprout Social, Dash Hudson, Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Later or similar)
  • Comfortable in a highly entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment and lean team
  • Fearlessness: be ready to dive right in, develop a point of view, own and share it
