Facilities & Lab Manager
Our Client is hiring a joint Facilities and Lab Manager for our various locations in Cambridge, Woburn, and Allston. We are looking for a professional with 3-6 years in facilities management or related trades and are experienced in building relationships with contractors and property management. We are looking for a self directed individual who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to problem solve while ensuring the best environment for our team. Overall, the facilities manager will be responsible maintaining a safe, functional, state-of-the-art facility to support the advancement of cutting-edge science.
POSITION SUMMARY: THE CLIENT is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facilities and Lab Manager to provide a safe and efficient work environment by managing services, resources, and procedures across the organization. This individual will provide a high level of customer service while delivering strategic and tactical execution of facilities and lab operations. The Manager will work closely with scientific and non-scientific staff to provide support, including but not limited to purchasing/inventory management, shipping and receiving, equipment maintenance, vendor and building services management, and office move management. This individual will manage facilities and lab operations in a 17,000 sqf facility (HQ) in Allston and 3,500 sqf pilot manufacturing facility in Woburn, MA.
RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage or support various facilities administration duties including but not limited to, vendor coordination, and landlord services related to facility electric, HVAC, and plumbing. • Ensure compliance with laboratory facilities standard operating procedures and best practices including oversight of all safety & training requirements • Assist in managing external vendors related to building services (e.g., janitorial, security, food vendors, office and kitchen supplies, etc.) • Oversee all project hazard analysis, registration and lab safety compliance; Work with resident teams to use lab space efficiently and develop protocols for specific projects • Manage office moves as single point of contact to all internal stakeholders. • Assist internal stakeholders on installation, relocation and repairs of basic laboratory assets as well as auxiliary equipment (e.g., metro racks, shelving etc.) • Respond to and frontline all corrective actions within the office and laboratory spaces (excluding laboratory instrumentation repairs and calibrations) • Develop standard operating procedures for the start-up and shutdown of all shared equipment • Provide utility assistance as needed for laboratory assets. • Maintain equipment and instruments in good working order; coordinate service contracts, preventative maintenance and repairs with vendors and scientific staff; maintain equipment database information • Manage lab gas deliveries and distribution to the labs • Manage the Shipping & Receiving of packages and assist with the preparation of outgoing packages, including mail services and distribution. • Maintain chemical inventory and work directly with EHS consultants to manage liquid and solid waste pickups and proper storage of chemical and biohazard waste.
