Position Overview

Global Music Rights is a music rights management company focused on licensing, surveying, and distributing public performance royalties to songwriters, composers and publishers. GMR represent today’s greatest and most popular music creators in the public performance licensing of their catalogs. GMR is at the forefront of music rights management leading the field in client services, technology, and rights advocacy.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented General Licensing Sales Manager to support our efforts in securing music performance licenses within the General Licensing (GL) group. In an effort to drive sales, in this role you will be responsible for prospecting qualified music users within assigned license classes on a national scale, analyzing, understanding and staying updated on industry trends, fostering valuable trade association relationships, and expanding our overall market share in GMR’s general licensing business.

As a part of our licensing team, you'll need to be exceptionally self-motivated and able to work independently to close business and exceed monthly quotas.

This is a remote role targeting candidates located in the Phoenix, AZ, Nashville, TN, or Southern California areas.

Target hire date: February 2025

 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a robust pipeline of over 500 prospects across various license classes, including but not limited to bars, restaurants, hotels, and fitness centers.
  • Consistently exceed monthly sales revenue quotas.
  • Exceed monthly sales license quantity quotas.
  • Conduct research and identify new opportunities within assigned license classes and territories.
  • Utilize various leading technology platoforms to support the sales effort (e.g. salesforce.com, , Outreach, SpringCM, Zoom Info).
  • Track daily activities, maintain accurate prospect information, and document all interactions with licensees.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the terms and conditions in various license agreements, staying informed about industry trends, and using this knowledge to manage and license pre-assigned accounts.
  • Engage in daily email and phone communication to close and execute licenses with potential licensees.
  • Collaborate closely with licensing administration, legal, and finance teams to manage and resolve any delinquent reports and payments.
  • Initiate litigation steps when necessary, following company policy guidelines.
  • Utilize GMR systems for daily account management, including workload prioritization, correspondence generation, customer activity documentation, report data entry, customer account review, invoice generation, and other required transactions/functions.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in licensing sales.
  • A genuine passion for music and songwriters.
  • A comprehensive understanding of copyright law and performing rights, with the ability to educate licensees and distinguish licensable uses from non-licensable ones.
  • Exceptional work ethic and stamina, with a willingness to put in extra hours when necessary.
  • Strong negotiation skills, a proven ability to overcome objections, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to complete deals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel and Word), and a quick adaptability to new software.
  • Detail-oriented with strong administrative and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • A track record of excelling while working independently.

The annual salary for this position is $80,000 + Commission. We offer a very competitive benefits package, time off policy, and a creative and dynamic working environment.
