Job Summary

As a Paralegal with AYR Wellness, you will support our Compliance team and General Counsel in a fast-paced, rapidly growing industry. You will draft correspondence, coordinate agreement approvals and execution, track documents, maintain status reports, and other tasks.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Support project management such as workflows, task lists, status updates, timing, and overall organization
  • Prepare, proofread, and revise legal documents, including contracts, internal memoranda, and correspondence
  • Assist with preparation of state and local applications, working with cross functional departments to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Manage day-to-day calendaring of legal deadlines and maintain legal files
  • Assist with compliance and other risk management matters coordinated by the Legal and Compliance Departments
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of state and local cannabis laws and regulations in current and future markets
  • Manage rule making processes, including drafting summaries of proposed rules, coordinating, and facilitating comments across company-wide departments and with external partners and stakeholders, and developing comment letters to submit to regulators

Qualifications

  • 5+ years corporate paralegal experience, preferably in a highly regulated industry
  • Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deadline and detail oriented, ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Adept at managing multiple complex projects in a well-organized and professional manner with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bases decision-making process on ethics, integrity, and transparent communication
  • Deep understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, and other related matters.
