Job Summary

The Post-Harvest Manager is responsible for managing all daily operations in the department including but not limited to harvest, destem, properly weighing, tracking, and inspecting all cannabis flower intended for packaging. They are also responsible for leading all roles within the post-harvest team, overseeing the maintenance of all equipment, and addressing all staffing needs for the department.  The post-harvest department is responsible for harvest, cure, and trimming all product at Ayr Wellness, and the end quality and production rate of high quality well-manicured cannabis flower. The Post-Harvest Manager is ultimately accountable for the correct reporting of all related data in state mandated and internal inventory tracking.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by performing Safety Audits and Safety Corrective Actions as required. 
  • Responsible for the adherence and management of the AYR Operating System (AOS) within the assigned area. 
  • Responsible for the scheduling of labor and management of daily adjustments to ensure production requirements are achieved.
  • Responsible for hourly/daily auditing of their area of responsibility to ensure the team has all the proper tools necessary to be successful.  
  • Responsible for the execution and oversight of all departmental activities to ensure compliance of all local and state regulations, including the use and management of METRC/Leaf Logix and any other state mandated tracking systems.
  • Responsible for ensuring all departmental team members are trained and utilizes department SOPs.
  • Responsible for the daily/weekly/month process scheduling to ensure plants are processed in a quick and efficient manner, while maintaining quality control post-harvest for a clean, seedless, pest and pathogen free final product.
  • Maintains that all production areas and equipment are clean and always sanitized according to GMP Standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for daily monitoring of humidity-controlled environments and all equipment used within the department.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records of daily production, tracking monthly results and trends for business forecasting.
  • Responsible for the management and development of departmental staff, ensuring training and development is sufficient to enhance productivity while supporting ongoing employee engagement.
  • Addresses issues, concerns, and administrative needs in a timely manner.
  • Performs annual performance evaluations.
  • Allocates duties to the Assistant Manager, Processing Leads and Processing Technicians appropriately.
  • Fosters a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while perpetuating a curiosity for “everything cannabis”.
  • Other Job Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must meet age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies.
  • Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies.
  • Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong desire to produce a high-quality product.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and be highly motivated.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Thorough understanding of state and local medical and/or recreational cannabis laws and how they apply to the operations of Ayr Wellness.
  • Two years of experience in commercial cannabis production.
  • Two years of experience in a position with managerial responsibilities.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a horticultural or agricultural field or demonstrated experience in horticulture or agricultural production.

Experience

4-6 years in a management/leadership role of a team of 20+ employees

Working conditions

  • The person in this position may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.
  • The working area may be odorous at times and loud due to fans and filtration systems, fluctuating between cold and warm temperatures.

Physical requirements

  • Focus on a physical task for a prolonged period without losing edge 
  • Working in an agricultural environment and ability to work 10 to 20 feet off the ground using ladders 
  • Manual dexterity; enough to reach/handle items, work with fingers 
  • Ability to lift and carry fifty pounds unaided on a regular basis 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time depending on your position and/or getting up and down through your work shift
