The Opportunity
Avidity is seeking a highly motivated Ph.D.-level scientist with a background in biomedical sciences to join our Discovery Biology team, who can contribute to and help drive the expansion of our AOC platform. A successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading project teams both internally and externally, collaborating with partners to deliver project goals. The candidate will utilize a wide array of experimental techniques inherent to cellular biology and biochemistry across several in vitro and in vivo models and will be expected to produce exceptional results in a laboratory setting. Additionally, the candidate will have experience with receptors in the field of neuromuscular research.
What You Will Contribute
- Drive forward in vitro and in vivo research projects aimed at expanding Avidity’s AOC platform technology
- Identify and implement strategies for specific oligo delivery into neuromuscular and other tissues.
- Design and perform experimental assays in support of ongoing research efforts in Discovery Biology
- Work with and manage collaborations with CROs to achieve program goals
- Establish and implement new techniques that can positively impact our platform technology
- Collaborate with other members of the Discovery Biology team as well as other teams throughout Avidity to deliver on corporate goals
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and the ability to clearly present results in a publication-ready format
What We Seek
- A Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minimum of 2+ years of industry experience
- Deep understanding of receptor biology in the neuromuscular space
- Demonstrated success in research project completion, preferably by having multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Excels in techniques critical for molecular and cellular biology experiments, including RNA isolation, quantitative PCR, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting
- Expertise in scRNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, RNAscope, and or proteomics is a plus.
- Adept at mammalian cell culture, including caring for and passaging primary and immortalized cell lines and siRNA transfections. Experience with maintaining/differentiating stem cell lines is a plus
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to conduct several projects simultaneously
- Proficient at establishing new assays to drive projects forward
- Excellent computer and data analysis skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite and GraphPad Prism
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication, including the ability to present research findings in a large group setting
- Enthusiastic attitude to work independently and in a project team-oriented environment

What We Will Provide To You
- The base salary range for this role is $118,750 - $131,250. The final compensation will be commensurate with factors such as relevant experience, skill set, internal equity, and market conditions.
