Intern, AI Engineer (LIMS Process Optimization)
Description
The Intern, AI Engineer (LIMS Process Optimization) focuses on simplifying a complex LIMS master data entry process by leveraging AI. The intern will work directly with the IT and LIMS team to analyze the current workflow and design an AI-enabled solution, such as an agent or intelligent tool, to streamline master data compilation and improve efficiency and accuracy.
We're thrilled to provide a 10-week paid internship at our facility in Tustin, CA. As an intern, you'll dive deep into our team culture, take on significant projects, and play a vital role in our team's dynamics. This temporary, 40-hour per week office position is designed to offer you a wealth of experience and the chance to connect with professionals in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Embed with the LIMS and IT team to understand the end-to-end master data entry and maintenance process.
- Analyze current-state workflows and identify opportunities for AI-driven automation or assistance.
- Design and prototype an AI-based solution to support or automate master data compilation.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to iterate on solution design.
- Document the simplified future-state process and present findings to stakeholders.
Primary Project Focus:
- LIMS master data process mapping and complexity analysis
- Identification of AI use cases such as data extraction, validation, and guided entry
- Design of an AI-enabled workflow or agent
- Delivery of a proposed future-state process and proof-of-concept
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to meet deadlines
- Interest in AI, process optimization, analytics and data science
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Availability to work full-time for the duration of the internship at our Tustin, CA facility.
- Authorization to work in the country where the internship is located.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This role is a temporary position operating Monday through Friday, 5x8 (5 days x 8 hours) schedule.
Starting Monday, June 15th through Friday, August 21st.

Compensation:
The compensation for this role is $20.00 per hour.
