Pricing Strategy Director

Job Responsibilities:


  • Actively participate in and contributes to the senior leadership of the Avalara business, including setting business strategy, participating in initiatives that encourage colleague engagement and satisfaction, promoting business growth, and ensuring operational and methodological excellence.
  • Collaborate across multiple business units on business strategy and execution
  • Provide leadership and direction as a consultative entity team delivering high quality pricing and market analysis
  • Coordinate prioritization, resource allocation, and delivery for projects with resource and project leaders
  • Contribute to business growth within consulting services and expansion of these service lines
  • Achieve revenue targets through direct client engagement and pricing initiatives
  • Create new business opportunities by pro-actively identifying and proposing technical and strategic solutions
  • Define annual price optimization initiatives by analyzing and synthesize quantitative (sales and usage data) and qualitative data to develop a compelling pricing strategy
  • Work with product management to understand product roadmap and feature functionality to develop pricing and packaging recommendations
  • Develop subject matter expertise on competitive pricing practices and trends, monitor and disseminate changes and analyze business and account level impact
  • Effectively influence GMs and Product Management on product monetization
  • Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of Pricing, Consulting and/or Corporate Strategy experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Broad technical knowledge of pricing and market access in global markets
  • Successful review of project or data outputs, interpret results, and develop/deliver presentations
  • Strong knowledge of the SAAS industry and understanding of buyers of pricing and market access services
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assigned accounts simultaneously and related revenue
  • Strong strategic and technical writing skills and highly proficient in the use of Windows Office applications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Successful history meeting deadlines while working on multiple parallel projects
  • Demonstrated success in leading new business opportunities to include attracting and delivering new business revenue at targets based on experience level
  • Able to identify and develop solutions to complex problems from a strategic and operational perspective
  • Self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment
