Project Manager, Revenue Operations

What you will be responsible for as a member of the team:

Avalara is looking for a talented Project Manager to join their Revenue Operations team to successfully manage the design, reporting, and readout of key strategic projects and initiatives to drive the business forward. The key objectives of this role are to:

  • Ensure the planning and oversight of key, strategic projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget.
  • Be a key contributor to the closed-loop feedback process to the business to ensure future efforts consider best practices, to ensure maximum impact for the effort put forth.
  • Establish and own an effective project status rhythm to ensure proper resource allocation, contribution, and accountability to deliver results across the Revenue Operations (and supporting) organizations.
  • This role will report to the VP Revenue Operations and work cross-functionally with the Revenue Operations Team to ensure an effective, closed-loop feedback process is in place between Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance and other supporting teams.


  • Facilitate the creation of key initiative project plans, scope and objectives
  • Assist in the identification of required resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
  • Track project status, deliverables, and costs in order to meet budget
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement – providing feedback to project executive sponsors on recommended operating rhythm changes for future projects
  • Ensure proper cadence of stand-up/status meetings are scheduled, with appropriate resources attending, to deliver concise and accurate project status.
  • Provide executive readout summaries, as required, on specific key projects
  • Qualifications for Project Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in business/operations, computer science or a related field
  • 8+ years of project management and related experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus.
