Senior Director Marketing EMEA R7210
Role reports to CMO
Brighton - Hybrid / Flexi
At Avalara Europe, we are building cloud-based tax compliance solutions to handle every transaction in the world.
Every transaction you make must be examined for tax — every tank of gas, cup of coffee, or pair of sneakers, every movie ticket, meal kit, or streamed song, or online course.
Nearly every time you make a purchase, physical or digital, there is an accompanying unique and nuanced tax compliance calculation.
The logic behind calculating taxes — the rules, rates, and boundaries — is a global, multi-dimensional puzzle of complexity, with compliance dictated by governments and applied to every business, every day.
Avalara works with businesses of all sizes, all over the world to calculate tax accurately in near real time and ensure they remit the correct returns. No company should have to spend countless hours managing taxes manually when they need to spend their time growing their business. Avalara ensures that business sales taxes are done right.
The Senior Director of Europe marketing reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and is responsible for setting the strategy, developing the European annual marketing plan, and owning the execution including targeting prospects, customers, and partners as key audiences.
We are seeking a hands-on leader with a track record of successful strategy development, brand implementation, demand generation, and driving marketing all the way from strategic planning through to execution. The role requires marketing creativity, a deep understanding of buyer personas, and a strong knowledge of unique characteristics of the various European countries. This leader is passionate about developing impactful and engaging campaigns, meticulous about managing budget and program spend, and driven to achieve success working in lock step with sales.
The leader has experience working in a matrixed organization and will collaborate across multiple functions and teams to build and execute industry led marketing plans that will rely on inbound, outbound and ABM marketing motions to generate net new business.
The Senior Director will have direct line oversight of prospect audience teams in UK, Ireland, Benelux, DACH, and France, responsible for developing new logo acquisition campaigns and end-to-end prospect journeys.
Public Relations, Communications, brand, and marketing operations will also report directly into the European leader. Other functions including customer, partner, product, digital and events marketing are dedicated resources that sit in our corporate team to leverage scale capabilities, but also have responsibility for regional strategy and execution. The leader will be accountable for pulling all players together to build a cohesive strategy to drive growth in Europe.
Outside of working hand in hand with peers in the Global Marketing Organization, this leader will be an integral part of the Europe Leadership team collaborating closely with Sales, Partner, HR, Finance, Engineering, legal, and other functional stakeholders who report directly or indirectly to the General Manager of Europe.
Analyze Markets, set goals and targets for pipeline growth – Working closely with our data & analytics team, the leader will gain insights that will inform decisions where to focus, setting pipeline growth goals for the audience teams in the key focus countries that together make up the European Marketing plan.
Build a strategic marketing plan aligned to segments and key industries – Working with its audience teams and with input from sales, the leader will be accountable for designing and delivering campaigns that are either global in nature in need of localization, hybrid, or local campaigns unique to a certain country, segment, or industry.
