Solutions Consultant-Global Trade

The Solution Consultant position is an individual contributor role, designed to drive incremental bookings for strategic or specific product(s) across the new business sales organization. The Solution Consultant will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for a specific product and will be considered the go-to resource for the new business sales organization; from training and enablement to deal support throughout the sales executive sales motions. The Solution Consultant position enables the new business sales organization to better understand complementary products and services with the goal of increasing add on product sales, average sale price (ASP), and customer success. Solution Consultants will be a highly motivated, team-oriented individual, interested in expanding their influence and affecting the broader sales organization. Reporting to the Director of Sales Enablement, the Solution Consultant(s) will be tightly aligned with leadership in the new business sales organization.


  • Work across the New Business Sales organization to assist sales executive teams in driving revenue for a defined set of product(s)
  • Be the subject matter expert for the product(s) of responsibility; to include building deep levels of product knowledge, customer domain knowledge and industry knowledge.
  • Help sales executives understand their customers' business environment and provide valuable actionable recommendations to drive product attachment and end to end solutions.
  • Provide sales executive deal support from discovery and qualification, to product demos to deal negotiations, to quote support and closing.
  • Articulate and present the value delivered by Avalara products and services to various levels within a customer organization.
  • Develop plans to deliver on strategic product budget targets, including how to increase the product knowledge and acumen of sales teams
  • Create & maintain regular bookings forecasts and report out on bookings performance to leadership.
  • Work in a team environment with multiple internal teams to solve problems and deliver results.
  • Represent the ‘Voice of the Customer', surfacing key product and business insights to help drive innovation for Avalara teams, i.e., Product, Marketing, Implementation, Support, etc.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from an accredited college or university, or equivalent career experience*
  • 8+ year's experience as a B2B Sales Professional (SaaS preferred)
  • Consistent record of achieving performance goals including quotas, revenue targets or other key performance indicators.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Efficient work habits with the ability to effectively manage time & prioritize activities aligned to business impact.
  • Ability to think strategically solve problems effectively & deliver outcomes.
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity: must have the ability to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple demands and shifting priorities.
  • Highly organized, motivated & driven to influence the success of others
  • Experience teaching/coaching/mentoring others to achieve shared success.
  • Results-oriented with strong people skills, positively influencing behavioral change & agent development.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency using Salesforce, Microsoft suite and collaboration tools like Zoom, Slack, etc.
