As a Senior Technical Program Manager in the Customer Learning organization, you will help build our automation infrastructure for publishing learning material and documentation across multiple channels including Avalara Help Center, Developer.Avalara.com and Avalara University.

Your Mission:

  • Spearhead our efforts to automate taxation content from multiple sources so that it is consumable by external audiences
  • Automate release notes and taxation information from multiple sources and publish to external endpoints
  • Manage the overall project roadmap, and work closely with teams and their managers to create incremental phased deliverables.
  • Influence long term vision, proposing opportunities for automation and simplification of architecture

  • Manage the interaction between engineering and other functions by identifying priorities, defining cross-functional milestones, and coordinating schedules.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 5+ years experience in project or program management with a proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project/task prioritization, procurement, project planning and schedule development.
  • Working knowledge of modern, continuous development techniques and pipelines on cloud platforms
  • Experience building and maintaining automation infrastructure for continuous integration and deployment
  • Working knowledge of automation frameworks for various platforms and technologies
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and collaborative work-tracking tools like JIRA
  • Ability to develop strategies to succeed in rapidly changing environments
  • A degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building automated tooling for documentation systems (e.g., Pandoc)
  • Understanding of international content strategies and localization workflows
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with Salesforce development
  • Experience with DITA and structured XML documentation
