Job Responsibilities:Research VAT/GST law, reporting, and remittance requirements to keep our tax products in compliance with tax laws in all territories required.Maintain existing taxability rules for assigned jurisdictions by monitoring tax law changes.Recommend and contribute to research projects that expand existing content based on market/environmental/legislative changes Monitor legislation, administrative decisions, and judicial decisions for changes in insurance taxes in assigned jurisdictional or topical areasBased upon tax research, validate results of test transactions pre-productionBuild productive working relationships with government taxing authorities and/or legislative research units to maximize the quality of our productWhen opportunities to further automate and streamline processes exist, raise them to Manager and/or Sr Designer to enable prioritization and ticket creation for EngineeringCollaborate with content research, product management and engineering to implement our solutions
Qualifications (absolute must haves walking in the door)A natural curiosity about technology and an interest in innovation and learning about new areas of transaction taxesRelevant Bachelor's degree (i.e. Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics)2+ years' experience in VAT/GST/indirect tax, research, consulting, or audit and accounting experienceExcellent research skills, including a logical and creative approach to drilling down to specific data to surface information that is vital to the accuracy of the published contentEffective communication skills (verbal and written)Ability to work in and support a team environment through collective team topics, load balancing, and sharing/receiving constructive feedbackAbility to multi-task, troubleshoot, and problem solve in a calm, analytical and methodical manner that also demonstrates a sense of urgencyProactively participate in a dynamic and innovative tax environment by maintaining a high level of energy while being consistently dependable, efficient, and accurateDemonstrated ability to manage time to achieve priority resultsAbility to maintain organization and attention to detailAnalytic ability at a level sufficient to understand and resolve client requests and tax concernsAbility to apply mathematical calculations, percentages, and general accounting rulesAbility to learn and adapt to different software applications and toolsAbility to work with large data sets in ExcelDemonstrated high standards of excellence in work product and professionalism
Preferred QualificationsExperiences with VAT/GST and global indirect taxesFamiliarity with tax returns and/or government complianceFamiliarity with Atlassian Confluence and/or JIRAFluency in languages other than English are a plusDemonstrable experience or qualifications in managing process optimization (e.g. Agile process) is a plusA high comfort level with technical tools
