We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced User Research Coordinator to join our team.

Avalara's UX product team is looking for a recent college graduate to join our User Research team as a UX Research Coordinator to help scale our growing user experience program. Our mission is to represent and advocate for our users as we forge the user experience of Avalara's global suite of products.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for coordinating, recruiting, and assisting in user research activities for Avalara's UX product team. You will work directly with the team's UX Researchers, Designers, and Product Managers to enable and scale the user research program for our entire product organization. Communication and collaboration will be key for this role, both with Avalara's internal stakeholders and our customers. Your efforts will enable Avalara to provide our customers with a better user experience.

We are looking for a talented individual who has strong organizational skills, has a keen eye for detail, and has a passion for helping others. You don't have to be a research veteran to apply but should be passionate about using evidence to support the UX design and product development process.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the user research team to define and recruit for research studies with both customers and non-customers

  • Coordinate scheduling and manage communication of research studies with customers and internal teams

  • Initiate and drive multiple projects autonomously, as well as collaborate cross-functionally with internal groups when needed

  • Maintain and grow our panel of user research participants

  • Observe and participate in user research studies with the ability to offer support in note-taking, facilitation, and technical troubleshooting when necessary

  • Assist with compiling and analyzing research findings for researchers that draw accurate conclusions from the data collected in research studies

  • Manage customer's interview data and personal information with complete confidentiality

  • Assist with creating documentation, training materials, and administration of 3rd party UX tools for the user research team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience conducting or coordinating research

  • Experience working in a professional office environment

  • Examples of work demonstrating your project management, organizational skills, and attention to detail

  • Experience executing against deadlines and managing multiple projects and stakeholders concurrently

  • Experience interfacing directly with customers or clients

  • Exceptionally clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of the practice of user experience and user experience research, and why both are important

  • Familiarity with user research methodologies including: user personas, user journey maps, usability testing, surveys, card-sorting, participant confidentiality, etc.

  • Familiarity with Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, UserTesting.com, and FullStory or comparable tools

  • Familiarity with software like Zoom, G-Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, JIRA and Confluence

  • Experience working across multiple time zones and geographies [nice to have]

  • Familiarity with SQL, market segmentation, and research sampling methods [nice to have]

Education:

  • Bachelors or higher degree in a User Experience related field such as (HCI, Human Factors, Design, Psychology, etc.)
