Senior Manager, SMB Customer Marketing Strategy

Job duties include:

  • Identify the segmentation strategy and value proposition for cohorts, backing up any strategy with data and Voice(s) of Customer.
  • Establish and implement integrated marketing programs that will drive product awareness and conversion of our small businesses. Develop KPIs that are tied to small businesses' buyer journey and product experience.
  • Identify which experiences need to be built to sell and service ‘digitally native' customer cohort and adjacent marketing plans to support this cohort in absence of complete solution.
  • Engage and convert your audience; strategize the right marketing mix for campaigns, including but not limited to email, in-product messaging, webinars, app advertising, paid/organic social.
  • Strategize with ecommerce partner marketer to develop best-in-class joint marketing plans to achieve objectives of the partner and Avalara to strengthen the relationship drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Lead and develop mature, insight-driven plans to support prospect and upsell activities that drive demand generation and conversion.
  • Analyze and understand key small business sub-segments to develop compelling messaging and marketing offers, that are aligned with the buyer needs and behaviors.
  • Work closely with the product team to influence in-product/in-app experience supporting customer experience and generate traffic into product
  • Work with the implementation and customer lifecycle team to bubble up any operational misalignment or customer experience issues.
  • Work closely with customer analytics to curate customer data that can be utilized in compelling, personalized campaigns to upsell customers.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • 8+ years of marketing experience in a high-tech industry with a track record of strategizing and launching successful marketing campaigns to SMBs and /or through partners and comarketing.
  • 3+ years experience managing digital product, web experience, and digital customer experience strongly preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills and strong cross-functional influencer abilities. Experience building frameworks and plans through PowerPoint, including modeling / forecasting skills.
  • Agility: Highly skilled at critical decision-making, managing multiple programs at once, and ability to adapt and react quickly to change without losing energy or focus.
  • Leadership: Experience that reflects a self-starter with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and proven experience aligning stakeholders to agree to common goals. Experience leading teams is a plus.
  • Ecommerce ecosystem knowledge: Experience in ecommerce marketing and familiarity with marketing through platforms (such as Bigcommerce, Shopify, GoDaddy, and Amazon is a plus). Alternatively, experience with SaaS products servicing small business.
  • Digital chops: Comfort with marketing and marketing technology is a must – experience in scaling product adoption, leveraging marketing automation, and personalizing web experiences.
  • Attitude: A fast learner able to quickly pick up new skills, knowledge, and systems.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees appreciated.
