Principal Consultant, AMS - Time Tracking & Absence (AMS)
Description
Avaap is seeking a seasoned Workday Time Tracking & Absence Principal Consultant to join our AMS practice. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work independently across multiple clients, and brings deep functional knowledge—especially in Absence—to help customers stabilize, optimize, and evolve their Workday tenant.
Responsibilities Include
- Serve as the functional lead across Workday Time Tracking and Absence, supporting multiple AMS clients with configuration, troubleshooting, enhancements, and issue resolution.
- Leverage expertise to articulate best practices, assess risks, and guide clients toward scalable, sustainable solutions.
- Partner with client stakeholders to understand requirements, propose options, and recommend the best path forward.
- Manage competing priorities and shifting client needs with confidence and professionalism.
- Stretch into adjacent functional areas as needed—within or outside TT/ABS—to support broader AMS team deliverables.
- Provide clear documentation, impact assessments, and knowledge transfer to clients and internal teams.
- Maintain a proactive, consultative approach, anticipating needs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Desired Experience and Skills
- Workday Time Tracking and/or Absence certification, Workday Payroll certification (all strongly preferred).
- Experience working within HE and Gov verticals a plus.
- Certified in Scheduling and Labor Optimization Services, strongly preferred, although not required.
- Deep functional expertise in Absence, with the ability to operate independently across both modules.
- Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to explain complex scenarios, evaluate risks, and present solution options clearly.
- Proven ability to juggle multiple clients and priorities in an AMS or multi-project environment.
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to stretch into new areas when needed.
- Strong problem-solving, autonomy, and ownership of deliverables.
- Preference for Workday HCM consulting, and/or industry experience, Previous consulting experience with SaaS systems is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to document delivered solutions, and provide knowledge transfer to customers on acceptable solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to convey complex solutions of varying degrees to non-technical users.
- Demonstrated ability to build long term, productive customer relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Pay Transparency
Compensation for roles at Avaap varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific business unit, team, role, skillset, and level of experience. As required by law, Avaap provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired.
• Base Salary Range is $135,000 to $175,000 plus 20% variable compensation is available for this specific role. At Avaap it is not typical to be hired at the top of the base salary range.
*During the interview process, alignment to level will be determined and should level differ from position applied for, a new compensation range will be provided for the appropriate role.

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively
• Must be able to perform work indoors and remain stationary at a computer
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Passion for exceptional customer service and collaboration
• Ability to work remotely or out of one of Avaap’s physical office locations
• Current permanent U.S. work authorization required
