Payroll Specialist
Description
The Payroll Specialist performs the processing of multistate payrolls for all employees. The individual in this role uses Workday payroll software to schedule automatic payments, calculate employee payroll taxes, deduct benefit payments, and streamline scheduling and distribution of payroll.
Ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and health & welfare deductions according to Company policies and applicable law
Maintains accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including but not limited to new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rate
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions to ensure timely processing of payroll
Researches and resolves payroll discrepancies, responding promptly to employee inquiries with a service-oriented approach
Stays current on evolving federal, state, and local wage and tax laws and ensures compliance across multiple jurisdictions
Maintains payroll records, reporting, and documentation for audits and compliance requirements
Coordinates and supports Human Resources and Accounting as needed
Completes other related responsibilities as assigned based on business needs
Desired Experiences and Skills
Academic studies or equivalent work experience related to Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline
Prior experience in payroll management in a multi-state environment
Intermediate skills in Payroll and Accounting related software e.g., Excel, PowerPoint,
Word, HRIS, Payroll Systems, Finance Systems, etc.
Prior experience working within Workday Payroll
Payroll Certification preferred

- Salary Range is $65,000 to $80,000 is available for this specific role. At Avaap it is not typical to be hired at the top of the base salary range.
- During the interview process, alignment to level will be determined and should level differ from position applied for, a new compensation range will be provided for the appropriate role.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively
- Must be able to perform work indoors and remain stationary at a computer
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
- Passion for exceptional customer service and collaboration
- Ability to work remotely or out of one of Avaap’s physical office locations
- Current permanent U.S. work authorization required
