Job Description

This is a permanent, part-time role (approximately 50% time, with some flexibility to increase or reduce hourly commitment). As a Policy Consultant, you will provide policy analysis, research, and project management support with guidance from your team leads.

In this role, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Aurrera Health mission: improving access to health coverage and the quality of the health care system.
  • Support dynamic client projects, which may include policy development, project management and planning, stakeholder education and outreach, and comprehensive policy and program implementation.
  • Understand health policy basics and actively work to develop your health policy skills and expertise.
  • Communicate effectively with your team in both verbal and written formats.
  • Research and develop first drafts of complex policy papers and other written materials.
  • Provide project management support with guidance, including developing and advancing work plans as well as coordinating agendas, taking notes, developing meeting summaries, and synthesizing next steps.
  • Manage tasks among multiple projects and/or multiple responsibilities within a project simultaneously.
  • Learn customer service and client management skills, including anticipating client and management needs and addressing them proactively.
  • Create a welcoming, positive, supportive workplace.
  • Develop your own professional health policy and consulting skills over time to work with increasing independence.
  • Engage in firm-wide activities such as staff meetings, policy team meetings, and annual company retreats.
  • Use Microsoft 365 Office Apps to develop and share work products and communicate with your colleagues, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Commitment to improving access to health coverage and the quality of the health care system.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop high quality work, including attention to detail, critical thinking skills, knowing when to ask for help, and openness to constructive feedback.
  • Organizational and project management skills, including ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, problem solve, and manage workloads and deadlines.
  • Commitment to providing high quality customer service.
  • Ability to work independently/proactively but also in collaboration with others.
  • Enthusiasm about learning and growing professionally.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience in the following areas: health care policy, behavioral health, social supports policy.
  • A master’s degree in public policy, public health, social work, or a related discipline, including a Juris Doctorate.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and coordination.
  • Experience working on complex projects with a variety of stakeholders.

Location

Aurrera Health Group is a fully remote organization and candidates from all areas of the country are encouraged to apply. Occasional travel to company events, meetings, and client sites may be required, but the primary workstation for this position will be remote. 

 

As a national firm, the Aurrera Health Group team works across four time zones. Aurrera Health will work with candidates to establish a schedule of core work hours that meets the employee and the firm’s needs.

Compensation and Benefits

Aurrera Health Group offers competitive salaries based on industry standards and experience, skills, and responsibility. We maintain equitable pay bands for employees based on these factors. The starting pay range for this position is $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year (will be prorated based on part-time hours), with an opportunity for an end-of-year bonus.
