We are currently searching for a Materials Manager to join our team at our Sidney Plant in Sidney, Ohio.
What you will do:
- Ensure safe operation of all material‑handling equipment, including forklifts, tuggers, docks, trucks, trailers, and warehouse storage systems, in line with OSHA and corporate safety standards.
- Develop and implement continuous‑improvement (CI) actions to maintain and improve safety and compliance performance.
- Build and lead a team proficient in the Auria ERP system, lean manufacturing tools, customer systems, and supply chain processes to consistently deliver the right material, at the right time, in the right quantity, at the right cost.
- Oversee supply chain performance to ensure customer and internal metrics meet targets, supported by clear CI plans with owners, actions, and timelines.
- Manage the plant’s overall supply chain CI roadmap.
- Lead the engineering change (ECN) process to protect material flow for inbound and outbound logistics.
- Ensure full execution and achievement of the plant’s logistics plan.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring policies and processes deliver accuracy and target inventory turns.
- Direct the physical inventory process, including preparation, team training, execution, reconciliation, and compliance with corporate policy.
- Maintain accurate written work instructions for counting, auditing, tagging, reconciliation, and related processes.
- Ensure physical inventory counts are accurate, posted on time, and fully reconciled.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis for high‑variance items (top 20% contributing to 80% of discrepancies) and implement permanent corrective actions within the CI matrix.
- Drive CI actions to sustain inventory accuracy above 98%.
- Lead the SCM team to achieve 100% on‑time delivery (OTD) to customers; develop corrective actions for any barriers to success.
- Manage supplier performance and internal processes to ensure 100% OTD for purchased materials, supported by corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all customer requirements, systems, and performance metrics are met at acceptable levels.
- Maintain an effective escalation process to proactively communicate risk of shipment delays to internal leadership and external customers.
- Collaborate with the plant leadership team to achieve operational goals and targets.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What you will bring:
Education:
- BS/BA Required
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Materials Manager or in a similar supply chain leadership role.
- Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems; Plex experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong prioritization, time‑management, and results‑driven mindset.
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles (e.g., SMED, TPM, Kanban).
- Ability to manage and lead broad functional areas within supply chain operations.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and materials flow.
- Excellent communication, organizational, negotiation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑demand environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to multitask and follow instructions accurately
