Overhead Distribution General Foreperson

A skilled position with prior performance that understands the install and repair process for overhead distribution and transmission systems, which includes poles, cables, and electrical systems.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and enforcing the safety program at the field level.
  • Setting safety standards and expectations for Forepersons.
  • Ensuring Foreperson and Crew Member job specific training is completed and documented.
  • Documenting Foreperson/crew evaluations.
  • Conducting safety meetings/crew safety audits.
  • Coaching, counseling, and correcting unsafe behavior.
  • Providing coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees according to policy. Clearly communicating expectations to employees.
  • Stop work when unsafe acts are identified.
  • Performing safety inspections utilizing the job behavior observation program and tool.
  • Investigating and monitoring claims and assisting region insurance examiners.
  • Reporting injuries, incidents and near misses to Region Safety Supervisor and Manager
  • Reports all injuries no matter how minor to the Region Safety Supervisor and Manager immediately.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Can review and comprehend project work plans.
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Able to communicate and handle confrontations professionally.
  • Possess knowledge of working with energized high voltage systems requiring specific skillset, primary and secondary, and minimum approach distance.
  • Able to climb different structures and possess the tools to complete the climb successfully.
  • Able to identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment. (i.e., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel).

Education & Experience

  • Possesses proven previous OH Maintenance Supervision experience.
  • Prior experience in the electrical power line construction industry.
  • Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and other certifications obtained during career.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Driver License Required, willingness to obtain a valid CDL within 90 days of employment preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
