Manager, Health & Retirement Benefits specializes in the design, implementation, and management of employee benefits programs, with a strong emphasis on retirement plans. This role is crucial in helping Asplundh offer competitive retirement benefits—such as 401(k), profit sharing plans, and other savings programs—that attract talent and support long-term financial security. The Manager, Benefits & Retirement ensures compliance with retirement-related regulations, coordinates with providers, and empowers employees to make informed decisions about their future.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, administration, and ongoing evaluation of retirement benefit programs, including 401(k), profit-sharing, and deferred compensation plans.
- Oversees the administration of health and welfare benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance programs.
- Oversee Benefit Help Desk and Staff.
- Responsible for evaluating plan designs, implementing cost-effective solutions, and ensuring these offerings meet employee needs and comply with relevant regulations.
- Educate and advise employees regarding retirement options, plan features, and investment choices through workshops, individual consultations, and written materials.
- Monitor industry trends to recommend enhancements and ensure the organization's retirement offerings remain competitive and compliant.
- Manage relationships with retirement plan vendors, financial advisors, and third-party administrators, ensuring optimal plan performance and value.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on retirement plan participation, fund performance, and plan costs to senior management.
- Oversee annual retirement plan enrollment and renewal processes, and ensure accurate, timely documentation and recordkeeping.
- Support regulatory compliance for retirement plans (including ERISA and IRS guidelines), and facilitate required plan audits and filings.
- Address employee inquiries and resolve issues concerning retirement benefits with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues to integrate retirement planning into the broader benefits strategy.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in retirement plan management and administration
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Extensive experience in retirement plan administration; prior management experience is highly valuable.
- Professional credentials such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) are advantageous.
- Thorough understanding of retirement plan regulations, ERISA, and fiduciary responsibilities.
