Seasonal Biologist

AMS is looking to add a Seasonal Biologist to our team! WHAT YOU WILL DO:
· Work with forester to conduct ROW environmental inventories to identify vegetation and wetland sites · Conduct pollinator surveys and create pollinator score cards for various pollinators and their larval host plants such as monarchs and milkweed April 1 – September 30th.
· Collect physical attributes such as roads, foreign utilities, culverts, streams, vegetation species, vegetation density, vegetation height, general cover type, and environmentally sensitive areas using GIS program
· Address customer concerns related to vegetation in and adjacent to utility easements.
· Analyze the effects of management activities on natural resources for environmental assessments
· Develop reports or spreadsheets for purposes of data collection, simplification and manipulation
· Ultimately, improve safe and reliable electric service delivery to the public.
Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations for the organization.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
· Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
· Minimum of 1 year experience with pollinators and their preferred vegetation or herbaceous plant identification.
· Ability to read and follow a map
· Willingness to work in a team, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
· Superb written and verbal communication skills
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
· Must be able to hike long distances for multiple days a week
· Ability to work overtime, up to 60 hours per week.
· Ability to travel through service territory.
· Ability to enter data in a GIS tool
WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:
· Prior UVM, Forestry or related outdoor experience.
· Proficiency in scientific writing
· Previous GIS technology/software experience a plus.
· A strong desire to grow and develop your career and knowledge in the UVM industry with Arbormetrics
· Bi-lingual speaking (English and Spanish)
