Position Summary:
The Benefits Specialist - LOA oversees day-to-day operations of the leave administration function, providing guidance and direction to the leave team while managing complex or escalated leave cases. This role ensures compliance, consistency, and efficiency in all leave processes while fostering a high level of service to employees and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily leadership, training, and guidance to Leave of Absence Analysts.
- Monitor team workloads to ensure timely and accurate leave administration.
- Review and approve determinations for complex leave requests, ensuring legal compliance and adherence to company policy.
- Communicate leave determinations, timelines, and return-to-work requirements to employees and managers.
- Create and update leave process documentation, job aids, and training materials.
- Track and report on leave metrics, trends, and potential compliance risks to management.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives for leave administration.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local leave laws, and ensure team is updated on changes.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in leave administration, HR, or benefits, including experience with complex/multi-state leaves.
- Prior leadership, team lead, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coach and develop team members.
- Proficiency in HRIS and leave management systems.
- Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and state leave laws (multi-state experience preferred).
