JOB SUMMARY  

Under the general supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist or Program Specialist, the Speech and Language Pathology Assistant  will perform services and consultation with teachers at a school site, provide activities designed to develop language skills and articulation skills, including speech production, vocalization and social pragmatics in students with speech/language disorders.  Other duties may include administrative work, meetings, and collaborations with staff and parents.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

  • Conduct speech-language screenings using a variety of screening tools and techniques  

  • Follow documented therapy plans  

  • Support the SLP with contacting families to arrange IEP meetings.   

  • Document student progress in IEP system  

  • Prepare therapy materials for use in pullout small group setting or in classroom setting  

  • Adapt or modify instructional materials as determined by student need and abilities for teacher-use in the classroom  

  • Consult with general ed teachers to co-plan instructional materials or implement strategies  

  • Track performance data using progress monitoring tools and report progress on IEP goals  

  • Assist with IEP progress monitoring under the supervision of the SLP.   

  • Creates and maintains safe, positive environment for students  

  • Collaborates with members of IEP Team, Special Education team and School site teams  

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior  

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned  

Additional:  

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.   

  • Comfortable with utilization of technology in a remote environment.  

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.  

QUALIFICATIONS  

Minimum educational level:  

  • Associate’s Degree and completion of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program  

  • Registration as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant with the State of California   

Experience required:  

  • 1+ year working with students with special needs in an educational setting   

  • Valid California Driver’s License  

Physical requirements:  

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.  

  •  Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.  

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.  

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.  

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.  

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.  

Work authorization requirements:   

  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening.  

  • Authorized to work in the United States.  

  • Provide health (TB) clearance (renewed every four years).

Aspire offers its employees a competitive salary and benefits, including paid time off, 100% core health benefits coverage, life insurance/long-term disability, participation in a CA state retirement plan, tuition reimbursement plan, and adoption assistance program.  

Hourly Range: $34.29- $49.95 based on years of experience for this role.   

*Bonuses are offered until December 13, 2024 and are paid out in two installments of $3,000. One payment after 30 days of employment and one payment after 6 months of employment.
