JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Community Schools and Expanded Learning is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of community school initiatives and expanded learning programs at the school site. This role leads integrated student supports, family and community partnerships, after-school and enrichment programming, and wellness initiatives designed to support the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being of all students.
The Director collaborates closely with school leadership, families, staff, and community partners to ensure programs align with school goals, California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) priorities, and Aspire Public Schools’ mission and values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Community Schools Leadership & Coordination
  • Collaborate with the Principal, School Leadership Team, teachers, and student support staff to identify and coordinate academic, behavioral, socio-emotional, health, and wellness supports for students and families.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the school’s Community Schools strategy and Implementation Plan in alignment with CCSPP requirements.
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations, government agencies, and service providers to support students and families.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among students, families, staff, and community partners to ensure transparent decision-making and aligned supports.
  • Chair the school’s Community Schools Advisory Committee and support stakeholder engagement processes.
  • Partner with school leadership to strengthen family engagement initiatives, including School Site Council, ELAC, and community-building opportunities.
  • Support attendance interventions and initiatives through collaboration with school teams and external partners.
  • Coordinate and monitor wellness supports, including behavioral health and mental health services.
Expanded Learning Program Leadership
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Expanded Learning/After School Program, including intersession and summer programming as applicable.
  • Design and manage student and staff schedules for expanded learning programming.
  • Ensure expanded learning opportunities align with school goals and provide high-quality academic enrichment, intervention, recreation, and youth development experiences.
  • Collaborate with school teams to ensure student nutrition, supper, and snack requirements are met during program hours.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and program records in compliance with Aspire procedures and grant requirements.
  • Track and monitor student academic progress and participation data to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support positive student behavior systems and ensure a safe and engaging environment for all students.
  • Open and close programs daily and ensure compliance with all operational and safety procedures.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
  • Hire, supervise, coach, and evaluate expanded learning and community school staff.
  • Facilitate professional development and training for program staff and community partners.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations, professionalism, inclusion, and collaboration among staff and students.
  • Collaborate with Aspire colleagues to share best practices and strengthen instructional and operational effectiveness.
  • Promote culturally responsive and anti-racist practices aligned to Aspire values.
Program Evaluation & Compliance
  • Collaborate with regional and home office staff to monitor program effectiveness and ensure compliance with funding and reporting requirements.
  • Analyze data related to attendance, engagement, enrichment participation, and student outcomes to inform decision-making and program improvement.
  • Ensure all programs comply with Aspire policies, state regulations, and grant expectations.
  • Maintain accurate staff records, timekeeping, and required personnel documentation.

  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and culturally responsive practices
  • Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and student information system
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking and writing preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education
  • Associate’s degree or completion of 48 college units required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree highly preferred
Experience Required
  • Minimum of one year working in education, youth development, community-based programs, or expanded learning programs required
  • Experience supervising or managing teams preferred
  • Experience developing partnerships and coordinating community-based services preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Move throughout indoor and outdoor environments
  • Remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer or facilitating meetings
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners
  • Assess the accuracy and completeness of assigned work
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and fingers for technology and documentation tasks
WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Clear Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • TB clearance as required by law

Salary is dependent on experience and is between the range of: $77,219-$108,375
