Aspire Public Schools is mandating COVID-19 vaccination and testing, which varies between *LAUSD co-located and non-co-located school sites. All job applicants must be prepared to show proof of vaccination and/or request and receive and exemption. All Aspire employees must also test for COVID-19 weekly in accordance with Aspire policy and legal requirements. Please note that compliance with the policy is a precondition of employment. *Effective October 16, 2021, LAUSD prohibits Aspire from allowing unvaccinated employees on District property and Aspire must adhere to this directive pursuant to its facilities use agreements with the District.  In instances where Aspire is not able to accommodate a teammate’s onsite, it will consider other accommodations including telework (if available based on essential functions of the job), medical leave or unpaid leave of absence.

The Occupational Therapist works independently in designing and adhering to the plans associated with student needs. S/he provides training and consultation to staff and parents and/or direct services to assist students with conditions which are mentally, physically, developmentally or emotionally disabling. 

What You Will Do:

• Respond to requests for service and screens individuals to determine need for referral and intervention
• Gather and interpret data to evaluate student needs as a basis for treatment planning
• Interpret evaluation findings to parents, and instructional teams while participating in the development of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
• Monitors student response to intervention and modifies strategies as indicated to attain goals
• Develops intervention plans including measurable goals and objectives with strategies for meeting them
• Coordinate intervention plan with parents and other members of the instructional team
• Develop appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance the performance of students in their natural environments
• Recommend termination of service when benefit has been achieved.
• Document evaluation results, treatment and follow-up
• Collaborate with peers in developing recommendations for protocol and procedures
• Assist in developing transition plans for students moving to other environments
• Work cooperatively with personnel and/or agencies providing services to the student or family
• Participate in professional growth activities in special education and in pediatric occupational therapy

What You Will Bring:

• Knowledge of child growth and development, common disabling conditions of children, and the theory and practice of occupational therapy as applied to infants,children and youth
• Ability to administer appropriate assessments; interpret history and assessment data; design and implement appropriate intervention strategies
• Knowledge of strategies and methodologies used in educational settings

• Bachelor's Degree; Master preferred
• Possession of a valid certificate of registration issued by the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
• Two years’ experience in occupational therapy with a primary focus on pediatric clients
