Job Purpose:

 

This position oversees news and analysis output from the India editorial team, daily operations of the India bureau, including administrative duties, editorial content and personnel management. The bureau chief also plays a hands-on role in editing of news, analysis and market commentary copy from India, recognise errors in copy and improve quality as required. Co-ordinate and contribute to news or analysis writing from the India news team, e.g. general news stories unrelated to specific markets, or geopolitical or investment features required for Argus’ Business Intelligence Reports.

 


Key Responsibilities:

1) Manage day-to-day operations of the India news team.

2) Help ensure successful production of all locally produced content.

3) Liaise with other bureau chiefs/editorial managers to ensure continuity of messaging and best practices.

4) Ensure bureau work and record keeping is compliant with Argus policies.

5) Coordinate and document bureau training.

6) Approve price reporting corrections.

7) Attend editors' meetings regularly.

8) Serve as the lead crisis manager.

9) Ensure the bureau is adequately staffed by managing personal leave requests.

10) Approve local editorial expenses.

11)  Conduct mid-year and end-of-year reviews.

 

 

Additional responsibilities entail supporting managing editor with:
 

1)      Managing personnel issues

2)      Hiring

3)      Special projects as needed

 

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:


This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.

 

 

Travel:

0-10% is expected for this position.
