What will you be doing?
We are looking for a driven, passionate, and resourceful market analyst to join our team to cover reporting on China’s fast-growing energy and commodities space. The successful candidate will join our global network of over 600 dedicated market analysts to connect deeply with the markets they cover, delivering expert market analysis and information not available elsewhere. We pride ourselves on analysing how and why news matter to our high-level audience, which comprises Fortune 500 companies, national oil and energy companies, multinationals, financial institutions, trading companies, and governments.
In this role, you will work in a fast-paced team and cover China's domestic refined product markets. In addition, you will be writing engaging market intelligence and analysing spot prices that are timely, accurate, objective, and meaningful for our clients. This includes maintaining a strong network of contacts within the industries to source original, relevant and exclusive content. You will be personable and be able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within the designated product portfolio. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from various backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe. In addition, there are opportunities to travel, attend industry events, present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

- Monitor and assess fast-moving markets to produce daily price assessments, market commentaries, analysis, and reports.
- Establish strong relationships with key members of the industry and business leaders through meetings and daily communications to gain an in-depth understanding of your market.
- Proactively generate news leads and pitch stories, contribute copy to the relevant publication and contribute to unique content (blog posts, white papers, webinars, podcasts, etc.).
- Collaborate with colleagues on the desk and other teams to enhance and drive coverage.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and industry events to build contacts and represent Argus.
- Build your industry expertise and writing skills to provide readers with first-class market insights and analysis.

What we’re looking for in you
- Prior experience in the financial, energy, or commodities sector is beneficial but not essential.
- Excellent writing, grammar, and numeracy skills.
- Demonstrable interest in global energy markets.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Excel.
- A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.
- Able to work independently while engaging and collaborating in line with the Argus values: Excellence, Integrity, Partnership, and Inclusivity.

Hours
- Monday through Friday, 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
- Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.
