Our work is firmly focused on markets — their structure, logistics and economics. Argus Consulting Services draws on Argus’ key strengths — energy markets expertise, global networks and proprietary databases — in order to deliver real client value.

Argus works across sectors including oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen, biofuels and energy transition solutions.

What will you be doing?

Due to the continued growth of the business, we are currently looking for a passionate, driven and energetic senior analyst to join the business, focusing on petrochemical markets.

The successful candidate can expect to work with blue chip clients including corporates, investment banks and private equity, trading houses and national governments. They may expect to work on engagements including:

  • Market entry opportunity analysis and execution strategy
  • Decarbonisation and sustainability strategy
  • Major M&A deals alongside client teams
  • Long-term strategic investment planning
  • Equity and finance raise for new renewable infrastructure investment

Our team has grown rapidly and has ambitious plans for further development.  If you have a constructive attitude and are prepared to play a role in all aspects of building the business, this is a great opportunity for you. Senior Analysts who demonstrate a high degree of sector=specific knowledge and understanding of chemical value chains – and who demonstrate their aptitude for building client relationships – can be promoted to Manager positions with excellent opportunities for reward.

Key Responsibilities

Project delivery

You will act as a driving force for successful delivery of (primarily) single-client projects in the Petrochemical sector, and satisfying subsequent client questions. You will develop extensive knowledge of chemical value chains, from base chemicals to commodity and specialty products. You will work as part of a focused team of Petrochemical project consultants, with responsibility for ensuring the quality of project work. This includes the accuracy and timeliness of the end-deliverables, and the overall client experience of commissioning Argus to provide Consulting Services.

Analysis and critical appraisal of data

You will be responsible for gathering data pertaining to Petrochemical projects, both from in-house Argus sources and from independent research. You will be responsible for critical analysis and adaptation of the data into evidence-driven and relevant conclusions, to support clients’ underlying questions as part of the consulting projects. As an independent thinker, you will actively search for the data and insights needed to address the consulting projects and, where needed, work collaboratively with other commodity sector experts besides Petrochemicals.

People and knowledge development

You will liaise with Argus staff to ensure effective transfer of knowledge within the company. You will keep abreast with major developments and trends in the Petrochemical industry, and will help to identify opportunities to promote Argus’ services.  You will provide guidance to junior members of the team and offer subject matter expertise.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Petrochemicals industry experience, most likely gained in either:
    • A consulting practice
    • An analytical or other role in the chemicals industry
    • An analyst role in a financial services organisation
  • Educated to degree level (2.1 or above) from a leading university.
  • Further education (e.g., MBA) a plus
  • Highly numerate with experience analysing data quickly and meticulously with excellent attention to detail
  • Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to deadline and to meet targets
  • Flexible in approach, highly motivated and willing to contribute to the growth of Argus’ Consulting Services.
