Position Summary:
 
The Senior Director, Enterprise Technology Strategy and Delivery is a strategic technology leader responsible for establishing and scaling the enterprise capabilities that enable a secure, scalable, and business-aligned technology roadmap. This role has dual accountability for defining and governing enterprise technology standards, future-state architecture, and multi-year technology strategy, including architecture disciplines across applications, data, integration, and emerging capabilities such as AI.  The position will establish a modern portfolio and project delivery operating model that improves execution predictability, transparency, and value realization across the enterprise technology stack.
This leader will partner closely with the CIO and business-facing IT leadership to ensure that enterprise strategy, architecture decisions, and delivery execution remain aligned to business priorities, compliance requirements, and long-term scalability.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and continuous refinement of the enterprise architecture strategy, standards, and governance model to support business growth and evolving regulatory needs
  • Partner with the CIO to define a long-term enterprise technology strategy and roadmap, including modernization priorities, platform direction, and architectural guardrails
  • Establish a pragmatic, scalable architecture operating model, including architecture review and decision forums, technology standards and reference architectures, solution design patterns and reuse, and data classification and security-by-design principles
  • Oversee the Enterprise Architect role (direct report) and build the architecture function over time, including future specialties such as data architecture, integration architecture, application / solution architecture, and AI architecture and enablement patterns
  • Ensure architecture decisions support, including enterprise scalability and performance, vendor and platform rationalization, data governance and trusted analytics foundations, and cybersecurity and compliance requirements (in partnership with Security or Compliance leadership)
  • Establish a modern PMO and delivery framework that enables consistent execution across IT initiatives, including project intake and prioritization, portfolio visibility and reporting, delivery methodology standards (agile/hybrid), resource planning and capacity management, and risk, dependency, and issue management
  • Implement consistent project execution tools and practices, including templates, governance cadence, and executive-ready reporting
  • Drive delivery accountability and cross-functional coordination to ensure initiatives are executed with clear scope and outcomes, defined ownership and timelines, measurable business value, and appropriate change management and adoption planning
  • Build and lead a future delivery organization, as needed, including Program Managers, Project Managers, and Delivery Specialists
  • Partner with the VP, IT Business Technology to ensure enterprise architecture and delivery execution align to business priorities and functional roadmaps
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure & Security Operations leadership to ensure architecture decisions are secure, supportable, and operationally sustainable
  • Partner with Compliance and Security leadership to embed governance, controls, and risk management into delivery and design processes
  • Serve as a senior leader and advisor to business stakeholders, ensuring technology decisions and delivery sequencing are transparent, aligned, and scalable
  • Lead and coordinate key strategic vendor engagements supporting enterprise architecture, data strategy, and roadmap definition
  • Ensure vendor work products integrate into the enterprise operating model, including architecture standards, roadmap sequencing, and delivery governance
Please note: this position is a hybrid-based out of our Waltham, MA office and requires a presence on-site 2-3 days per week.
 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of progressive experience in IT, technology strategy, enterprise architecture, and/or technology delivery leadership, or equivalent experience
  • Experience building or maturing the Enterprise Architecture function and governance processes
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and scale a PMO or portfolio delivery model in a growing organization
  • Experience in life sciences or biopharma, regulated industries, or public company environments
  • Strong understanding of enterprise technology domains including applications, data platforms, integration patterns, cloud, security, and modern analytics
  • Experience partnering with senior business leaders and translating strategy into executable roadmaps
  • Strong leadership, influence, and executive communication skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts including data classification, stewardship, master data, and sensitive data controls
  • Experience enabling AI capabilities through responsible architecture patterns and governance
 
Travel: 10% 
 
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $251,000-$307,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
