Summary
The Pharmacology team is seeking a highly motivated in vivo biologist to work closely with colleagues to discover and develop new therapies in oncology and inflammation therapeutic areas. The successful applicant will contribute to the multidisciplinary research team at Arcus. This will entail designing and executing studies, interacting closely with cross-functional groups, including biology and chemistry to establish efficacy/PK/PD relationship for the preclinical therapeutic candidates.

The Pharmacology team is seeking a highly motivated in vivo biologist to work closely with colleagues to discover and develop new therapies in oncology and inflammation therapeutic areas. The successful applicant will contribute to the multidisciplinary research team at Arcus. This will entail designing and executing studies, interacting closely with cross-functional groups, including biology and chemistry to establish efficacy/PK/PD relationship for the preclinical therapeutic candidates.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute in vivo studies with small molecule / antibody-based therapeutics in disease models of oncology and immunology. Activities include cell inoculation, dosing, bleeding, monitoring of disease progression, sample collection for ex vivo assays and maintaining study documentation.
- Perform pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies.
- Perform xenograft, syngeneic and orthotopic tumor studies to test efficacy, pharmacology, and mechanism of action of anticancer therapeutics.
- Execute both acute and chronic rodent immunology models
- Research and establish new animal models, as well as troubleshooting challenges of early development.
- Partners with counterparts to plan, coordinate, and monitor the timely execution and completion of various research projects.
- Oversees the maintenance of accurate, comprehensible, and current laboratory notebooks.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience in rodent model development and testing novel therapeutics in both oncology and immunology and a high school diploma or higher education.
- Expertise in handling mice and rats, including intravenous, intraperitoneal, and oral gavage administration.
- Proficient in blood collection (cardiac, RO) and tissue collection/necropsy
- Experience in surgical technique a plus
- Experience with data capturing and analysis software (i.e. electronic notebook, StudyLog, PRISM, Excel).
- Ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives
- Comfort with rapidly shifting goals as well as organizational change and evolution
This role is based at our Hayward, CA location. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay for this posted position. The actual salary may vary based on various factors including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills and abilities, internal equity and alignment with market data.
