Job Summary:
We have an opening for a Senior Research Associate (SRA) in the Translational Sciences group with expertise in histology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) to support biomarker discovery. The candidate will be responsible for performing IHC/IF assay development and analysis. The ideal candidate should have experience with many elements of tissue-based research, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy/cryotomy (sectioning), routine IHC and histology stains, microscopy/imaging, and digital image analysis. The role will also entail maintaining histology laboratory equipment and an inventory/ordering of critical materials and reagents used for IHC applications. Candidates with a strong interest in histology, oncology, and pathology, who desire to build expertise in this field are encouraged to apply. Job Responsibilities:
The job duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Develop and validate novel IHC assays to support our clinical and preclinical programs.
  • Collaborate with preclinical research teams to build assays with clinical applications in mind
  • Imaging and analyzing single chromogenic IHC stains as well as multiplex immunofluorescent stains using both standard scoring methods and digital image analysis software
  • Tissue procurement and generation of cell pellet controls to support assay development needs
  • Presenting data regularly at project team meetings and communicating effectively across different functional teams within our organization (pharmacodynamics, biomarker ops, biology, etc) 
  • Procurement of the tissues and reagent ordering for the efficient day-to-day running of the lab
  
Qualifications:
  • BS or MS or equivalent degree with ≥4 years of experience, including substantial time in a fast-paced industrial environment, with an immunohistochemistry background appropriate for this position. The title will be commensurate with experience.
  • Solid working knowledge and hands-on experience with IHC techniques, including different automated staining platforms, whole slide scanning, and a software suite for image analysis.
  • Experience with tissue processing, embedding, and sectioning is required  
  • Experience in assay development and validation of tissue-based biomarker assays, including technical oversight of vendor assay transfer and validation a plus.
  • Cell culture experience is required
  • Onsite lab-based position
This is a lab-based position based at our Hayward, CA location. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $95,000 - $130,000. Factors such as relevant experience, education, duration of experience, and length of industry experience will influence the actual title and salary offered.
