Sr. Accountant (SEC)

Description

The Senior Accountant will report to the Associate Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. This position will be a key player in the accounting department and will have first-hand responsibility for the Company’s quarterly SEC filings and significant involvement with the rest of the day-to-day accounting operations, financial close, and reporting processes. The work environment will consist of a mixture of independent work, as well as team and cross-functional interactions. A strong candidate will have the ability to balance regular, monthly activities with the ability to proceed in long-term projects with minimal direction.    

Accounting Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of this position include:    

  • Working with the Associate Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, prepare quarterly 10-Q filings and annual 10-K and Proxy filings and related support for external auditors
  • Assist with tracking and disclosure of Section 16 officer and director holdings and draft related filings
  • Execute monthly/quarterly accounting close procedures and deliverables including journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliation and fluctuation analysis over key accounts and maintaining GAAP compliance
  • Perform control activities over equity grants and
  • Assist with technical accounting questions raised by changing operations or accounting pronouncement updates as necessary.
  • Participate in regular Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control activities and support testing of internal controls by external SOX auditors
  • Participate in policy, procedure, and system changes to increase efficiency or SOX compliance in a rapidly changing department.
  • Support annual audits and quarterly reviews from external auditors
  • Assist with special ad-hoc projects, research and supplemental reporting as needed


Qualifications    

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting 
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX 404 compliance
  • Minimum of a BA or BS, CPA preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Proven success working well under pressure, highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in an environment with continued process improvement and change 

Preferred Qualifications    

  • SEC Reporting experience using Workiva’s WDesk software
  • Experience with NetSuite and Equity Edge Online (EEO)
  • Biotechnology industry experience
  • Experience in interactions with external auditors (internal control/SOX auditors, external financial auditors)

This role will be based at our Hayward, CA location. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $110,000 - $120,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay for this posted position. The actual salary may vary based on various factors including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills and abilities, internal equity and alignment with market data.
