Who we’re looking for:

ARC Document Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pre-Press & Preflight Operator to join our team. As a Pre-Press & Preflight Operator, you will be responsible for accurate file preparation, ensuring that all files meet the specified requirements and client proofs. You will manipulate files, handle paneling, font sourcing/substitution, file identification, placement/replacement, file RIP, color correction, and final sizing. Your role will be crucial in fostering cooperation among departments and colleagues to guarantee the timely delivery of files that meet our clients' expectations.

In this role you will:

  • Thoroughly review work orders before proceeding with file preparation.
  • Open client files using appropriate software packages.
  • Confirm the compatibility of fonts, art, and photographic links in the document.
  • Inspect vector art and photographic images for resolution, color accuracy, and proportional sizing.
  • Create cut files or white ink layers for print and cut processes as necessary.
  • Provide digital proofs to relevant parties and arrange hard copies if required.
  • Verify color call-outs using printed PMS charts/color swatch books or client-provided hard copies.
  • Utilize RIP software to prepare files for final output, optimizing for the best results and minimizing waste.
  • RIP files according to job specifications, considering materials, finishing techniques, ICC profiles, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Deliver work orders, color proofs, and other relevant documents to the production team.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in relevant software packages (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in file preparation.
  • Knowledge of printing processes, color correction, and RIP software.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Prior experience in a pre-press or print production environment preferred.
