What You’ll Do

As a Senior Director on AppFolio’s Value Added Services team, you will set and execute a strategy that leads to a best-in-class, Resident Lifecycle product and services offering that is loved by AppFolio’s property manager customers and is indispensable to each user in the AppFolio ecosystem. In addition to owning product and service strategy and operations, you will also own the revenue and cost goals of Resident Lifecycle offering.

  • Ensure Resident Lifecycle services exceed our revenue, margin, and product/service adoption goals in accordance with the budget
  • Define and continuously evolve, and deliver a clear and coordinated 1- and 3 year product & business strategy for Resident Lifecycle services
  • Define, clearly articulate, and evangelize the Resident Lifecycle product strategy to the organization
  • Prioritize, measure, and track the ROI of product investments. Execution plan ensures teams are working on the highest impact customer problems at all times
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Client Services, Operations, Finance, and Product/Engineering to execute on key initiatives critical to achieving the budget
  • Build and retain a high-performing, highly engaged team, in which roles and responsibilities are clear
  • Ensure Safe, Sustainable, and Scalable business practices. Proactively manage risks in the business and employ mitigation strategies when needed

  • Communication: Authentic and transparent communicator in both formal and informal settings. Able to provide clear communication regarding Resident Lifecycle Services strategy (what we are doing, why, how it impacts) and present it in a clear, articulate way.
  • Urgency: Independent, self-starter with a bias for action. Accomplishes goals, beats deadlines, and proactively addresses issues before they become widespread. Instills a sense of urgency in the team.
  • Long term thinking and product management: Builds, grows, and maintains products and services with an excellent customer and strategic value prop. Projects today’s learnings into future success, adjusting based on services’ lifecycle stage (new, scaling, optimizing). Balances and makes appropriate trade-offs between short-term execution and multi-year strategy.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience successfully running a business with revenue & margin responsibility
  • Minimum 8+ years experience, including a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience inside a technology company (preferably SaaS or e-commerce).
  • Strong bias for action; self starter who can work autonomously with little direction
  • Excellent leadership and relationship building skills, including the ability to influence across teams, hiring, onboarding, coaching, employee development, motivating, and decision-making
