The Sr. Product Manager will drive forward AppFolio’s strategy of being the place where real estate comes to do business. You will be focused on optimizing AppFolio for customers with diverse real estate portfolios so that they can continue to take advantage of our one powerful platform.

 

In this role, you will lead discovery and development for a high-performing engineering team. You will gather market and customer insights, create a vision, and drive product objectives through partnership across the organization. This role is perfect for someone who is customer obsessed, deeply passionate about product design, and possesses enough technical expertise to collaborate closely with engineers.

 

Your impact 
  • Define vision and strategy for your product area
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers and industry, serving as an internal & external expert
  • Translate a customer experience vision into technical requirements with the help of a senior level engineer
  • Conduct agile methodology including planning, grooming, retrospectives, etc.
  • Partner with design, engineering, and other product teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences as well as internal stakeholders in customer service, sales, and marketing to drive product outcomes and business results
  • Prepare & deliver clear, compelling presentations to customers, colleagues, and superiors
  • Coordinate & lead customer interviews, both over the phone and in-person, to deepen personal and organizational understanding of our customers’ needs and desires
  • Collect & analyze data about customers, market, and product usage to inform priorities and measure success

 

Qualifications 
  • Minimum 5+ years of direct product management experience
  • Solid track record of successfully delivering product and business outcomes
  • Experience working collaboratively with software development teams
  • Proven ability to lead and partner with senior leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required
  • Experience working on technical projects, including optimizing data models and structure is a plus
  • Direct experience in a B2B SaaS company and/or real estate background is a plus



Must have
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead without authority
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to relay technical information to a non-technical audience in a digestible format
  • Exhibit passion and enthusiasm for delivering value to customers and business
  • Ability to see both the forest and the trees - you are detail oriented and can also cast a big picture vision
  • Can manage a broad scope of work, including sequencing work between independent teams
  • Comfortable dealing with unknowns, and be skilled in finding answers to unknowns
  • Confidently collaborates across boundaries to rally the organization toward achieving a product vision

 

Compensation & Benefits
The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $138,400 - $173,000. 
The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc. 
Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
