Title: VP - Controller

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated VP - Controller. This role will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to help drive Astrana Health forward to continue to scale in the healthcare industry. This role is hybrid and will require being in office 3 days per week.

What You'll Do:

  • Leader who can oversee a team of 25+ individuals and work cross-functionally across departments
  • Overseeing all accounts, general ledger, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate US GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly close process for all our entities and ensure all reconciliation and financial fluctuations are prepared timely and accurately.
  • Maintain Quarterly IBNR schedules, including preparation of ad hoc analysis over claims spend by vendor and specialty
  • Maintain Risk pool revenue schedules to ensure projected revenue is accurate
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and executive summaries for all IPA managed for executive management review
  • Ensure all regulatory filings are completed timely and accurately
  • Prepare budget vs actual analysis on a monthly/quarterly basis to ensure results are accurate.
  • Support and manage technical accounting research and analysis while setting standards and initiatives as appropriate for accounting, reporting, and operations; resolve complex accounting issues
  • Work with external auditors and provides needed information for audits
  • Identify and address issues impacting accounting close and consolidation process
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, individual fund restrictions, industry best practices, and other considerations to foster and maintain a high level of trust in the Accounting Department

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; Master’s degree or CPA Certification is a plus.
  • 8+ years of accounting and finance experience, preferably within a growing healthcare company
  • Extensive knowledge and application of GAAP
  • Knowledge of SOX404 is a preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where the expectation is to work both in office and at home on a weekly basis. The office is located at 19500 HWY 249 Suite 570 Houston, TX 77070.
  • The total compensation target pay range for this role is: $180,000 - $220,000. This salary range represents our national target range for this role
