About the Role:
 
The Director – Medical Economics plays a critical role in driving the financial and operational performance Astrana Health. This individual will lead a team responsible for the analysis and interpretation of healthcare data to support strategic decision-making, cost management, and value-based care initiatives. The Director will work closely with senior leadership, clinical teams, and external partners to develop and implement data-driven strategies that enhance healthcare delivery and optimize financial outcomes.
 
What You’ll Do: 
 
Leadership and Team Management: 
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team including a manager and analysts.
    • Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to team members.
Strategic Planning and Analysis: 
    • Develop and oversee comprehensive economic models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, including population health management, risk adjustment, and value-based care programs.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis to drive decision-making and improve financial performance.
    • Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to identify opportunities for cost savings and quality improvement.
Data Management and Reporting: 
    • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of healthcare data used for analysis and reporting.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to track the effectiveness of initiatives and inform future strategies.
Stakeholder Collaboration: 
    • Serve as a key liaison between the medical economics team and other departments, including finance, operations, clinical services, and IT.
    • Partner with external stakeholders, such as healthcare providers, payers, and regulatory agencies, to align on goals and share best practices.
    • Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership, board members, and other key stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices: 
    • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in medical economics and decision support.
    • Ensure that all activities comply with relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards.
Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in Healthcare Economics, Health Services Research, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field. A PhD is preferred.
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare economics, data analysis, and decision support within a managed care or healthcare setting. At least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Advanced Excel skills.
    • Knowledge of SQL and database management is a strong preference.
    • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), is a bonus.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to diverse audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and results.
    • Deep understanding of healthcare economics, managed care principles, value-based care, and population health management.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
    • This is a remote, US based position
    • The total compensation target pay range for this role is between $180,000 and 200,000. This salary expectation represents our national target range for this role.
