About the Role:

Job Overview:

As a Data Scientist I, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and communicating insightful analytics to improve healthcare outcomes. You will work closely with our Operations teams, applying your expertise to enhance our Risk Quality engine using your background in healthcare data analysis.

Responsibilities for Data Scientist:

  • Provide analytical support for the Operations team, focusing on healthcare claims, metrics, and ACO model insights.
  • Develop data models, workflows, and automation processes to enhance the Risk Quality engine, leveraging your expertise in data wrangling and machine learning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and communicate reliable healthcare metrics, helping guide decision-making across the organization.
  • Utilize Python, R, and other relevant tools to implement analytic solutions and deliver actionable insights from large healthcare datasets.
  • Create and maintain ETL pipelines to facilitate efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations using tools like PowerBI and Looker to present findings to key stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Analyze Fee-For-Service (FFS) claims data, addressing common issues like claims lag, missing data, and cross-walking, to provide reliable metrics for strategic decisions.
  • Develop and implement unit tests for healthcare measures, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of key performance indicators.
  • Stay current with healthcare data standards, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the quality of data analytics and reporting.
  • Actively participate in internal and external meetings to share insights and strategies for improving the Risk Quality engine.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or a related field, with a solid foundation in statistical analysis and data modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in healthcare data analysis, ACO model metrics, and healthcare data standards.
  • Proven experience with Python programming, particularly in data analysis, data wrangling, and data modeling, as well as proficiency in R and SQL.
  • Proficiency in database management systems, with a preference for PostgreSQL and MongoDB, and experience working with relational databases.
  • Familiarity with concepts like risk adjustment, attribution, and churn, and a foundational understanding of DCE and ACO models.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in healthcare data analytics, particularly with healthcare claims data.
  • Experience developing ETL pipelines for data processing and automation, and familiarity with data engineering tools like Apache Airflow and Databricks.
  • Strong communication skills to present findings through dashboards and reports, and experience creating visualizations in PowerBI, Looker, and ggplot2.
  • Experience with actuarial loss reserving methods, including chain-ladder and Bornhuetter–Ferguson techniques, and knowledge of pricers and clinical classifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with experience in managing projects and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive attitude towards continuous learning, keeping up-to-date with the latest healthcare data analytics trends and technologies.
