Associate Consultant/Consultant – Space and Defence
APCO Brussels is looking to hire an Associate Consultant/Consultant to join our industry-leading Technology Practice, focusing on space and defence. We are looking for ambitious, talented, and tech-savvy professionals to join our diverse and multicultural team.
We work with most of the world’s most recognisable companies, and covering most tech policy areas, from data or cybersecurity to space policy and defence-related policies. Space and defence are a growing policy area for us and our clients. This position is an opportunity to be a central piece in leading and growing it further.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of consultancy business practices and processes, a genuine interest in and knowledge of EU space policy and the space and defence industry, a strong network of relevant contacts in Brussels and beyond (notably with DG DEFIS, the space ecosystem, and NATO) as well as strong tactical and strategic abilities. The candidate would need to have a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in consultancy, in-house, European institutions, or within trade associations.

The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate strong expertise in EU policy issues, Brussels developments, and macro business factors impacting clients.
- Have experience working on policy issues impacting the defence and space sector.
- Initiate and nurture client relationships, take ownership of client deliverables and delegate tasks effectively.
- Confidently help to drive and lead internal and client meetings, offer knowledgeable observations and suggestions, establish trust-based relationships by sharing insights and knowledge of policy content, encourage and motivate others to communicate ideas
- Help to manage junior members of the client teams
- Working with practice leaders to develop and implement the strategy which supports the client’s objectives,
- Help to drive business development opportunities and manage proposal process
- Demonstrate a good understanding of effective project management
- Take ownership and actively engage in networking and new business development with the support of the practice leaders and the team
